Music Education Resources: Rhythmic Skills

Here is a selection of activity plans, for use as one-off sessions. They are designed for use mainly in primary schools, by teachers or adults without specialist musical knowledge.

Echoing - playing short rhythms by ear, in groups or pairs

Filling the gaps - a framework that enables young people to make up their own short rhythm patterns

Rhythm groups - using short rhythm patterns to develop a structured ensemble composition

TUBS - an acronym for Time Unit Box System - another way of creating a composition for rhythm ensemble

More resources will be added soon.
