Music-making

Information about my own musical projects, and other groups I am involved in. See Forthcoming Events page for details.

Solo performances:
Carols from the Coalfields - I have set to music and am now performing a selection of the poems of my great-great-grandfather, Joseph Skipsey (1832-1903), a self-educated coal miner who lived in what is now North Tyneside.

Accompanist:
I am working as accompanist to the singer, Hope Augustus.

Groups
Muscadin - more than a ceilidh band
Morrigan - a cappella folk singing quartet and instrumentalists
Greenwich Blues Band - monthly Blues Nights in Woolwich (see GFMA below)

Music-making in Central Charlton
Central Charlton has an active residents association (CCRA) and this has given rise to two music-making groups which are active in the area.  The singing group meets fortnightly and sings mainly for pleasure, but has performed very successfully at local events.  The instrumental group, which is known as SE7, plays a wide range of music and has started performing regularly in local venues.

Global Fusion Music and Arts (GFMA)
GFMA is a local arts charity with whom I work on a number of events and projects, including the Greenwich Blues Band, GFMA Singers, workshops for schools, ceilidhs, concerts and drama/theatre productions. Click here to visit their website or here for my page on the site.

Workshops and musical projects
I lead a range of vocal and instrumental workshops with young people and adults, and CPD sessions to support practitioners involved in teaching music. I enjoy working with all ages and all levels of experience and ability. Please click here for further details.
